District Heating Network Construction
Turnkey delivery or exactly the scope you need
WARMNET OY
Turnkey delivery reduces the client's coordination workload
Warmnet constructs and installs district heating networks as turnkey projects or defined work packages. We serve energy companies, cities, municipalities and industrial operators throughout Finland.
When a district heating project is delivered on a turnkey basis, our scope can include design, including structural engineering, material supply, civil works, transport, lifting operations, installation, welding, insulation, maintenance and repairs, as agreed for the project. Our partner network complements our in-house expertise whenever required by the scope of the project.
For the client, turnkey delivery means a clearer allocation of responsibilities and less coordination between multiple contractors. The project scope, boundaries and responsibilities are defined individually before work begins.

A defined work package brings an experienced contractor to a critical project stage
Not every project requires turnkey delivery. Warmnet can also carry out an individual project stage or a defined work package, such as pipework installation, welding, joint insulation, civil works, material supply, lifting operations, transport, maintenance or repairs.
We coordinate our work with the client's plans and schedule, as well as with the work carried out by other contractors. This gives the client precisely the expertise required without an unnecessarily extensive delivery scope.

Our own equipment supports effective project coordination
Warmnet's equipment and fleet have been selected and developed for district heating and pipework projects. Our crane trucks, access platforms, high-capacity transport combination, excavators, hook-lift trucks, service vehicles and work raft for waterside installations allow us to carry out different project stages without having to source a separate contractor for every requirement.
Having our own equipment does not eliminate the need for careful planning, but it provides more options for project delivery. For the client, this means that transport, lifting operations, civil works and installation can be coordinated into the same work sequence.
From design to a completed district heating network
Design and materials
Successful delivery begins with understanding the site requirements and the scope of work. A turnkey project can include design and structural engineering as well as the required material supplies.
Warmnet also stocks commonly used district heating construction materials and supplies, supporting our work particularly in maintenance and repair situations.
Civil works, site arrangements and traffic management
We carry out civil works at district heating sites using our own equipment. We also have traffic management equipment, site fencing, traffic signs and temporary access bridges.
When a site requires several interdependent work stages, coordinating them within the same contract streamlines project delivery.
Transport and lifting operations
Moving long pipe sections requires suitable transport and lifting equipment. Warmnet carries out lifting and transport using its own fleet, which includes crane trucks of various sizes with the necessary accessories and a high-capacity transport combination for special transport operations.
We can also handle and transport pipe sections up to 18 metres long.
Installation, welding and insulation
We install district heating networks and carry out coded welding, under-pressure connections on steel pipelines, HAELOK compression joints in sizes DN15–DN100 and joint insulation for pre-insulated district heating pipes.
Our joint insulation services include welding plastic protective casings, including on site, and mechanically applied polyurethane insulation at district heating pipe joints.
Connections, maintenance and repairs
A project can include network tie-ins, district heating heat exchanger installations, and network maintenance and repairs. We also carry out network renewals and repairs at sites where the existing environment, the management of service interruptions or surrounding structures place particular demands on the work.
Bridge and waterside projects require the right methods and equipment
Warmnet has installed and renewed district heating pipelines on bridges and carried out installations beside waterways and from a work raft. These projects include the installation of a DN600 pipeline on the Muulo Bridge in Espoo, the installation of a DN600 pipe on a bridge in Joensuu, the installation of a DN200 pipeline on the Paatela Canal Bridge in Äänekoski, and the repair and renewal of bridge pipelines in Savonlinna and Varkaus.
An unusual working environment affects lifting operations, transport, support structures, work sequencing and safe project delivery. We therefore assess each site as a whole and select equipment that meets its specific requirements.
Support for network faults and urgent repairs
A fault in a district heating network may require a rapid assessment and flexible working arrangements. Warmnet can respond to network faults as needed, including during evenings and weekends. Our stock of commonly used materials and supplies, together with our own service vehicles and construction equipment, supports the mobilisation of the work.
Urgent work is always planned according to the situation, availability and the requirements of safe project delivery. If your network requires repairs, contact us and provide the location of the site, a description of the situation and any available technical information.
